Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Can I sign-up and join in a session has already started?

Yes.  Classes are ongoing.  You may sign up at anytime.  Please refer to the curriculum to see what topics are currently being covered.

2I am very interested in the teaching program you have created here and was wondering what else would be required, besides this course, to become a certified professional midwife. Would other schooling be required or just an apprenticeship?

Check out NARM's (North American Registry of Midwife)websites and also MANA (Midwife Alliance of North America) This midwifery educational program is not a school to make you a midwife. You can read the statement at the bottom of each page.

3. My main inquiry is surrounding hands on learning and or clinic opportunities for your students.

This is answered in this website but I know many will want to hear this answer again.

To answer your question.....well the hope is that you will learn so much, you will learn things that no one professionally that works in the medical model is knowing and doing and that you take your hands and massage women, you take your hands and palpate without machines, you take your hands and take care of them postnatally. You take your sweet words and tell them birth is natural and then the women will come to you, the midwives in  your area will want you to help them. MHI is an organization whose intention is to help set up clinics and leave them for the people. We will need women to come and help us in the clinics as we are teaching and working with the people.
I can not tell you what is in your future i can only empower you with knowledge and hope your destiny will be to help with natural birth if that is what you choose.

4.  Is the Mother Health International and approved NARM clinic?

Yes.  Mother Health International is a NARM approved birth clinic located in Jacmel, Haiti. We will accept two to three apprentices per month at the MHI clinic in Jacmel.  Apprentices can either come to our clinic with your preceptor or one of a MHI midwife volunteers, who is a NARM approved preceptor, will serve as your preceptor.  Please refer tot he MHI website for more details.

5. I was looking at the NARM website and it says I need to graduate from a MEAC accredited program. Does your program have this?

Go to the NARM website and carefully read the routes of entry, going to a MEAC accredited school is one route of entry. The traditional route of entry is still honored. I was part of the original group of midwives that assured that this would be honored.   I am glad that you are excited.  The response world wide is flowing in.  It makes me smile. Traditional midwives have always done hands on learning and education as their route. This education will help you become aware of education that sadly enough has become rare to hear.

6. How do I know if I am logged in?

Once you log in, you will see your name on the upper right hand side of the screen.  The right hand side navigation will show up (links are in green)

If you are not logged in, your name will not show up and the links on the right side navigation will not be present.

7. HELP!!  I've tried logging in several times and it doesn't seem to be working.  Any ideas?

The difference is slight (between being logged in and being logged out).

Look on the right hand side of the page (underneath the website header) a right hand side navigation bar should appear when you are logged in - the links on the right hand navigation are green.  At the upper right hand corner of your page, you should see your name (In a gray colored box) and a logout button (also gray colored box).
Try these other steps if you are still having issues:
  1. Make sure there are no spaces (before, after or in between) when you copy and paste your user name and paste word as you are logging in.
  2. Make sure your browser is the latest version (We have tested this on explorer, mozilla and firefox - all latest versions work fine).  It doesn't matter whether you are on a mac or a pc.
  3. Make sure you have your web page maximized to the size of your computer screen (sometimes, not seeing what is on the right side could be because the browser is not large enough and blocking your view)
  4. Have someone you know and trust to log in with the information I provided...and see if they get the same results.  Log in page is : http://www.mammaprimitiva.com/log-in/
  5. If this still doesn't work, email us and we will give it a try and get it resolved.
